In June 2012, the circular economy company Ekokem acquired the Swedish environmental management company Sakab and in January 2015, Ekokem acquired the Danish NORD. In the beginning of September 2015, these companies also changed their names to Ekokem: Ekokem AB and Ekokem A/S.
- We are proud to be able to export a Finnish environmental brand to the Nordics, says Karri Kaitue, the CEO of Ekokem.
Along with the Ekokem brand, we will move from waste management services towards a more comprehensive circular economy in all countries. We will still offer the same services in Sweden and Denmark and won’t compromise on their quality but at the same time, we will also offer new services and possibilities to our Nordic customers.
- Sakab and NORD have a long experience in environmental management and hazardous waste treatment in Sweden and Denmark. In the future, we will be able to strengthen and widen our service range in both countries together. It is important that we can use the expertise, experience and specialists of all group countries in a more extensive manner in the Nordics, Kaitue continues.
The target of our strategy Towards the Circular Economy, which extends until 2017, is to grow faster than the market in the Nordics. Investments and acquisitions are the central tools to attain this growth.
